Re: That's Some Team-Building Exercise

Re: The rotation competition.

There's no way Montero gets through waivers. Someone will take a flier on him. I'm not saying that necessarily matters, but it's a factor.

Re: I guess we should probably talk about Jason Vargas, huh

Dave Eiland.

You know? I didn't even think of that. If there was something wrong with him, Eiland would know it. Maybe this is a better deal than we think.

Re: I guess we should probably talk about Jason Vargas, huh

Proof that pitcher wins don't mean anything: Vargas led the AL with 18 last year.

Re: Cancer vs....

A friend of ours, a guy I've played on many stages with the past couple of years, has leukemia that came on very hard and very fast. My age -- two girls, a little younger than my kids -- and I'm gutted.

Re: Bud Harrelson Deserves His Own Thread

I will always love that Buddy brought baseball to Long Island with the Ducks. They may not sell out every game like they did the first few years, but they've kept the prices way down at a time when everything else is really expensive.

The Cubs have got quite a 1-4 right now. Lester, Hendricks, Darvish, Quintana.

Re: In Goes Frazier!

For what it's worth, I used to work with a guy who grew up with Todd Frazier and hated the guy. His name is also Todd, and I guess they were something of athletic rivals. (My former colleague, apparently, lost.)

Re: In Goes Frazier!

And I get that the years committed is a huge factor and it's not apples to apples. But if you're going to go for it, then fuck, bring in some star players and go for it. I see your point, but I think that's just the way this team operates, for better or worse. I don't think any of these deals -- Sw...

Flores becomes an interesting trade chip, actually. I could see him somewhere hitting 30 home runs in 2019 and us being like OMG WHAT DID WE DO.
