I believe that someday I will punch that arrogant foreman at the plant square on his fat nose; that I will get in the last word with my wife; that I will win the Irish sweepstakes; that the Mets will start a winning streak.

Trope made his debut last night: five innings, two runs, five K's, and a win.

Hell yeah.

Yep. Four starts, all of them "okay." Probably not enough to break camp with the club next spring, but enough to be in the mix again.

Joe Nathan to the DL with a likely TJ surgery looming, BUT

Nick Tropeano called up by the Angels to start against Oakland today.

Seawolves, baby.

Your spring update:

Majors:
Nathan (Detroit): Injured; TJ surgery, will miss the year. Could be the end of the road.
Koehler (Miami): 2-3, 4.62 in 7 starts. Meh.

Minors:
Tropeano (AAA Angels): 1-1, 4.20 in five starts (1.30 WHIP, 28 K). Also threw six scoreless and got a W in a spot start in LA.
Jankowski (AA San Diego): .333/.420/.425 in 120 AB. Second in the Texas League with 13 SB, making Juan Lagares look like Todd Hundley out there: http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp? ... 3&sid=milb
Cantwell (AA Texas): 9 hits in 46 AB, 0 for 25 throwing out runners. Stuck behind a younger guy who's a better prospect, too.
Tissenbaum (A+ Tampa): 10 hits in 48 AB. Also stuck behind a younger guy. Argh.
Rakkar (A+ Chicago): 1.37 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 19 2/3 innings at A and high-A.
McNitt (A Houston): Just started his season; pitched a scoreless 6th and 7th, then gave up three runs in the 8th.
Krause (A- Pittsburgh): Season hasn't started yet.

James Campbell and Tyler Johnson drop off the list; neither one appears to be playing this year.

Majors:
Nathan (Detroit): Injured; TJ surgery, will miss the year. Could be the end of the road.
Koehler (Miami): 7-5, 3.40. Still gets no respect despite having the second-best season of any Fish starter. (Jose Fernandez notwithstanding.)

Minors:
Tropeano (AAA Angels): 2-3, 4.67. Back from his rotator cuff injury.
Jankowski (AA San Diego): .313/.394/.392. Currently with the USA National Team at the Pan Am Games, where he's tied for the lead in hits with nine.
Cantwell (AA Texas): .207/.271/.307 in 150 AB. Throwing guys out, but not as well as in previous years.
(FUN SIDE NOTE: Jankowski stole two bases on Cantwell in April.)
Tissenbaum (A+ Tampa): .244/.337/.288 in 156 AB.
Rakkar (A+ Chicago): 2.40 ERA, 10 saves. Currently with the Canadian National Team at the Pan Am Games; has thrown one inning.

Campbell (A LA Dodgers): Just started his season; closing games, more or less.
Krause (A Pittsburgh): Still on the 7-day DL, but I can't figure out why.
Ryley MacEachern (A- Miami): Just signed; will be in Batavia.
Daniel Zamora (A- Pittsburgh): One inning, one run for West Virginia.

5 for his first 9 in the bigs I see.
Actually he just dropped to 5-10 as he pops out vs Strasberg

Yeah, took an ohfer last night against Strasburg, but had a very productive first three games.

Tom Koehler, on the other hand, has completely spit the bit. 0-6, 6.68 in his last six starts.

NOT retired as it turns out. Just signed a deal with the Cubs of all teams, who then immediately placed him on the 60-day DL.
Hasn't pitched since his opening day of 2015, a 4-pitch save he recorded which preceded his TJ surgery later on that month. The hope is that the now 41 y/o will be game ready by July.

At least he didn't get called in to pitch.
The Padres used two position player pitchers (Chritian Betancourt, Alexi Amarista) in the same game whilst getting blown out by the Mariners Tuesday night.
I guess that's one of the privileges of being a 1st round draft pick.

Hate to say it, but Jankowski sure looked like a player.
I'll be your patron saint of heartbreak.
