Getting Out

His middle name is most oddly Trumpbour
Goin' to Series soon someday
Manager Yogi has Mets knockin' on door
He said, "Sonny, you have third slot duty"
Oh but you know this song is about
Jon Mat lack lack lack lack lack lack
You oughta know by now, you oughta know by now
A parody song about Matlack
Yes that's all you get for your money

And it sure was such a great time
And that's what it's all about
Batter, if you're getting up then you'rrrrre gettin' out

Rookie o'year before seventy-three
Right before Mets are a contender
He pitched aft Seaver and Kooz down on one two six street
Across from the car chopping centers
And yes this parody is about one
Jon Mat lack lack lack lack lack lack
You oughta know by now, you oughta know by
Watch the caught drives
And the broken bats
And watch when he throws them the benders

And it sure was such a great time
And that's what it's all about
Batter, if you're getting up then you'rrrrre gettin' out

You should never argue with a crazy mind mind mind mind mind mind
You oughta know by now
You can thank Jon for the great times
Yes that's all you get for your money

And it sure was such a great time
And that's what it's all about
Good luck getting up 'cause you'rrrrre gettin' out

You'rrrrre gettin' out

'68 was a Classic one
And even that was just prelude to '71
Even in down years, was the prince of Motown
Lost count of all the hitters that I'd mowed down
Never'd guess I'd be forced to blow town
But then, a phone call, and now I
Am sent out quicker than flash-fry

The only thing I'm anticipatin'
Mmm, is some of that pizza, man
Those New York fans have a rep for hating
But they do have that pizza, man
Ooh, that crust, a must, I've heard the buzz

Gettin' traded will kick your ass, yes
You feel like a piece of meat
THEN you have a start slower than molasses
And they roast you like a rubbed-up spit-pig
Doesn't help that I'm a little zaftig
Borderline Nimitz-class big

The only thing that could ever calm I
Is another hot pizza, man
Zisk or Matthews would ding my dong, I
Ring a ling for some pizza, man
In a pinch, I won't mince... I'll take a blintz

Oh, Lord, here comes September
Though I'm not named "Gordon"
I get called "Gordo" by Millan
Trying to get by with fak'ry
and more rolls than a bakery
Now Christenson's tagging me for homers?
Lord, deliver me glutinous food comas

The only thing that can let the sun in
Is just another pizza, man
As long as I can walk, not run in
I'll order another pizza, man
(Extra cheese, if you please, that would appease)
The only thing that I'm still enjoying
Here? It's sweet-onion-meatball on pizza, man
It keeps me buoyant and keeps me buoyant
God bless you, Mr. Rose-Cheeked Pizza Man
The only thing that can block "GET FIT!" out
Is a sweet-sausage, green-pepper pizza, man
If its magic wears off, maybe I'll sit out
Get on my Harley, and peace out, man
Thanks be I left the fam in Detroit
There's nothing out here but pizza, man...

This one's tough. I'm leaning Matlack, but both were really good.

Two great parodies. I went with the Lolich/Dusty Springfield based on degree of difficulty, but enjoyed both immensely!
In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, "I have finished." There is a lot of satisfaction in that - Fred Lebow

The Lolich one is more about food than about Lolich.
Trumpbour triumphs in my mind.

Later
I'm smarter than you think you are.

And fittingly so. What do you think Lolich's Met stint was all about?

Donuts.

And motorcycles.

Yeah, I'm surprised at how close this contest is. No offense to Jon Matlacllacklacklacklacklack, but the the pizza man is the tastiest dish of the whole contest so far.

:) I love reading all of these.
