Now: Kiner's Korner

Later in the evenin', right after they've played nine,
When the game is over, don't turn from channel 9.
On next is the Korner, it's there to pick you up,
Highlights, stats and interviews about your favorite club.

Now: Kiner's Korner, in for a treat
Ralph and the players are chattin'
Please don't miss it, grab a seat

Ralph will give the box score so please do not change that dial,
He'll discuss the best plays in detail for a while.
Greatest players of the day on for an interview,
Kiner gives one last recount and bids us all adieu.

Now: Kiner's Korner, in for a treat
Ralph and the players are chattin'
Please don't miss it, grab a seat

Now: Kiner's Korner, in for a treat
Ralph and the players are chattin'
Please don't miss it, grab a seat

If you saw the whole game no need to hang around
But Ralph will show you highlights and the scores from out of town
It's all on the Korner, the best of the best
People all stay tuned post-game to watch Ralph with the Mets

Now: Kiner's Korner, in for a treat
Ralph and the players are chattin'
Please don't miss it, grab a seat

Now: Kiner's Korner, in for a treat
Ralph and the players are chattin'
Please don't miss it, grab a seat

Repeat to fade...

A parody to the tune of: Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Down On The Corner"

And a Frosty Rheingold Beer

Lizzie was a longshot
But she filled my heart with pride
I just had to take out
After Father of the Bride
But the guy I gave my car to
Said "It's parked way over there!"
But I send to her my love
And a frosty Rheingold beer!

Jane Russell was the girl
Who first could claim my heart
She would pose with a bare shoulder
And she made that pose her art
I couldn't keep my eyeballs
Out of her brassiere!
But I send to her my love
And a frosty Rheingold beer!

Ava broke my heart
The day she married Frank
We met in California
And I took her places swank
I won the homerun title
But it was still a lousy year!
But I send to her my love
And a frosty Rheingold beer!

The home I made with Nancy
Was filled with tennis nets
We were always playing singles
And she took me in straight sets
The day I finally beat her
Our kid's due date was near!
But I send to her my love
And a frosty Rheingold beer!

Janet was no psycho
No, she never did me harm
Shooting Angels in the Outfield
I turned on the Kiner charm
Oh, it's good to be a slugger
An All-Star Buccaneer!
I give to her my love
And a frosty Rheingold beer!

The one that fin'ly tamed me
Oh, it was my wife, Dian
She put up with all my stories
And she could drink like Ed McMahon
She would sadly predecease me
But I cherished every year!
So I gave her all my love
With a frosty Rheingold beer!

Excellent submissions!

And a Frosty Rheingold Beer was an great review of Ralph's life and loves, but I went with Now: Kiner's Korner because it had more of an upbeat, Flag of Victory Polka kind of feeling to it.

In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, "I have finished." There is a lot of satisfaction in that - Fred Lebow

Both are top drawer stuff from participants who are clearly in their pomp...

I went with And a Frosty Rheingold Beer

Both superb.

I gotta think that the obscure song choice won't help our second contestant in the end, though.

As far as I'm concerned, you're both winners.
Let me tell you something: I have a big set of balls.

Stunning! Tip of the cap to both.

(Confession -- I didn't know that Waterboys song, either.)

One based on a song I'd never heard vs. one based on a song I've heard far too often of late, thanks to Walgreens. Both exquisitely executed.

Grats to T-Monk, who beat me in the semis. This is the third time he's beaten me in these parody contests. Have to stop throwing him those hittable curves.

Anyway, lotta great work in this contest and Batmags deserves a frosty Rheingold for sponsoring this.

Big hand to TMonk. Second championship for you?

I should have been disqualified for rhyming nine with 9 in the first two lines. A major faux pas and I'm not sure how that cleared my 29 proof reading sessions. :)

Yes, this is my second time winning in the finals. Kudos to Edgy and all who participated...and a lot of credit to batmags for coordinating and administering.

Heck of a semifinal match, as well, Mr. Silver Medalist. Edge-y, indeed.

You had my vote here, too.

Yes, both great parodies. Jeeze, the whole contest was a lot of laughs, and thank you batmagadanleadoff for making it happen.
