These are not working, at the moment, FYI. Not sure if that's been pointed out. Mine show a broken link under the 'Joined' text.

The little broken link under 'joined' or 'location' points to the old server (which is gone)
and is looking for an 'offline' .gif.

Weird, the gremlins followed us here.

Yes, that should be the picture of Mr. Met, either in color (if you're online) or in black and white (if you're not).

btw, if I'm going to be an ex-manager, I'd prefer to be Bobby Valentine instead of Jeff Torborg.
I don't believe BV is taken by anyone else. I mean it's still possible for someone to be on their Bobby Valentine posting level, but he's currently at #407 on our big board (and of course dropping further down each year) so it's not very likely.

I've reached the magical 11,000-post level. Can I claim a custom designation?

I'd like to be Mettle, the mascot mule. The reasoning behind it: As bad as we sometimes think things are today, they once were a whole lot worse -- like 1979, when Mettle roamed Shea. We always should look forward and think positively!

Thanks, guys!

I'm aware of Mettle, but don't really remember him at all. If you asked me
yesterday I would have said it was a mule from the 60's not the late 70's.

I always associate Mettle with the Lorinda de Roulet era.

Not a happy era, but a strong associaton.
In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, "I have finished." There is a lot of satisfaction in that - Fred Lebow

Me too. That's interesting.
I believe that someday I will punch that arrogant foreman at the plant square on his fat nose; that I will get in the last word with my wife; that I will win the Irish sweepstakes; that the Mets will start a winning streak.

I remember Mettle and I definitely associate him with 1979. He was part of the last dying gasps of the Payson era.

holy crap, i'm over 11000 posts, and i didn't even notice

what do i do now?

there's just so much pressure to make a meaningful decision!

did shea stadium's neon runner have an official name?

hmm.... "shea stadium's neon runner"

that... could work...

although... "shea stadium's running met" seems somewhat more appropriate

yeah, i'll go with that. unless there are objections and derisive commentary.
the first step is admitting you're a runner.

running is a mental sport, and we're all insane.
