I just updated the rankings (with data provided by Frayed Knot) into the database that drives the forum. While doing so, I noticed that several members have passed the magical 11,000 post mark but have not yet chosen a custom designation. They are:

I don't know what to do with my custom designation. SO MUCH PRESSURE.
I believe that someday I will punch that arrogant foreman at the plant square on his fat nose; that I will get in the last word with my wife; that I will win the Irish sweepstakes; that the Mets will start a winning streak.

I just noticed this thread again. It seems that it didn't inspire anyone to choose a custom designation.

I suggest you give it some consideration, lest you be randomly assigned someone like Lorinda deRoulet.

Well, part of it is that there is no defined process? what are we supposed to do, email you?

If you want, I guess you can do that.

The original rule was that it had to be someone who was associated with the Mets, but not as a player. But I think we've ignored that rule at least once, so if you want to be Bill Pulsipher or Josh Thole or whoever, that's fine. If you do pick someone who played for the Mets, try not to pick anyone who's especially prominent. I don't think it would be in the spirit of this thing (whatever that spirit is) to pick David Wright, Mike Piazza, Matt Harvey, or anyone like that.

This IS surprising. But as random designations go I could do worse. I feel like I have the ability to know when to wave home threads and when to hold them up, and my on-forum percentage is impressive. They call me "The Posting Man."

Cool - how?
In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, "I have finished." There is a lot of satisfaction in that - Fred Lebow

Apparently it's a secret! (To find out the answer, you'd have to retrieve the scrapbook from that bear.)

John Couger Lunchbucket has accepted his random designation of Eddie Yost.

We still have 14 people who are due for a custom designation. With the help of my Amazon Echo (thanks Alexa!) I have come up with a list of 14 Mets people who were not players. Whenever the mood strikes me, I will take a random CPF poster from the list of 14 and pair that user with one of the 14 people that Alexa chose.

If you want to avoid this fate, please select a custom designation of your own choosing.

The users who may be affected by this process are:

    Frayed Knot 36,064
    Zvon 23,255
    LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr 21,452
    Ceetar 18,166
    seawolf17 15,847
    G-Fafif 15,233
    dKong76 14,266
    Vic Sage 13,997
    Rockin' Doc 13,867
    Nymr83 13,409
    batmagadanleadoff 12,901
    Ashie62 12,363
    Fman99 11,766
    soupcan 11,683

The rankings to which you are subject to being reassigned are:

    Luis Aguayo
    Bob Goldsholl
    Art Howe
    Dave LaRoche
    Josh Lewin
    Kevin Long
    Wid Matthews
    Dal Maxvill
    Harold W. O'Shaughnessy
    J.P. Ricciardi
    Howie Rose
    Denny Sommers
    Tom Spencer
    Jeff Torborg

I promise not to give the Wheel of Fate its first spin until some time next week. BEWARE!

I like being Seaver, but I could live with being Dave Kingman
going forward. Maybe I can photoshop a Mets' cap on my Donkey
Kong picture.

d'Kong76 has chosen Dave Kingman, so he's now immune to random assignment.

I find that I'm really hoping that someone gets stuck with Harold W. O'Shaughnessy .
