AUGUST 2017
Player of the Month: YOENIS CESPEDES
Yoenis Cespedes (remember him?) is the Player of the Month for only the second time in his Mets career.

Pitcher of the Month: RAFAEL MONTERO
As Pitcher of the Month in each of the first four months of the season, Jacob deGrom threatened to run the table. But in August, Rafael Montero put an end to deGrom's reign, winning his first ever Pitcher of the Month award.

Reliever of the Month: HANSEL ROBLES
Hansel Robles is the Reliever of the Month for the second time this season and the third time overall.

Bench Player of the Month: BRANDON NIMMO
This is Brandon Nimmo's first time winning Schaefer in any category.

Congratulations to Rafael Montero. Here's hoping your success proves to be more enduring than Alay Soler's.
I'll be your patron saint of heartbreak.

This says it all about the season, doesn't it....

But great work as always BG!

Cespedes I've practically forgotten about.
Montero I had all but forgotten about.
Robles I'd like to forget about.
Nimmo struggles to be memorable.

Yup, August 2017. That's them.

Love the fresh cards, Grimm. Two 1977s seem apropos.

2017 is a lot like 1977 isn't it? Long-time players leaving, a very different team in September than in April, and many more losses than we had anticipated.

I certainly hope 2018 and 2019 turn out better than 1978 and 1979 did.

Congratulations to Rafael Montero.
Great job, kid.
You made me proud.
